About Me
My first foray in the industry was with the dramatic short “Karbouj.” Shot partially in Beirut, it explores the impact of family ties (or sad lack thereof) through the simple act of cooking. My company Black ++ (plus plus) Productions grew out of a need to get my own and other women’s stories onto film and into theatres.
My Afro-Cuban heritage spawned a work ethic that saw me through studying at Purdue University in Accounting and Business. This, and a career in banking, honed a financial know-how which has served my Career Coaching clients well in the unfathomable world of start-ups.
In 2003 my husband, the actor Terence Bernie Hines, started a consulting company specializing in the entertainment industry – The Hines Group, Inc. A year later, the company won the Emerging Business of the Year Award from the LA Business Journal.
I am an executive and an artist. I bring a keen eye for finding the small story that hits the broad nerve. But even more importantly, I consider that I have the presence and push to drive a product to the finish line, as I did with my first film “Karbouj,” – being its producer, director, writer, and fundraiser. And have done the same with many more films since.
