About Me
Jack Meggers grew up in Mason City and Clear Lake, Iowa. He earned his degree in Performing Arts from Iowa State University, then moved to New York City and began a career in stage theatre. During his time in New York, Jack gradually turned his attention to filmmaking and in 2006, relocated to Los Angeles. While in LA, he got his start directing by making music videos for bands in the Los Angeles area. Jack’s first narrative short film, Frigid, was selected to participate in the Short Film Corner at the Cannes Film Festival in 2013.
He returned to his home state in 2014 to develop a feature film, entitled The Burial. Jack has founded his own production company, Anatomical Heart Films, and is directing and producing a slate of short and long-form art, documentary, and narrative films.
In July of 2017, Jack was awarded an Iowa Arts Council Fellowship, one of five artists selected to represent the state of Iowa for 2017-18. He is the first filmmaker in the state’s history to receive this honor. On the heels of his fellowship, Jack received a project grant from the Iowa Arts Council to produce and direct a short version of his feature film. This short was filmed during the fall of 2018 and is currently in post-production.
