About Me
I am an documentary filmmaker and investigative journalist from Kenya. My work focuses on economic and environmental stories. Previously, I worked for the Integrated Regional Information Networks (IRIN), a humanitarian news service formerly under the United Nations, as a reporter and producer. My work has appeared in Al Jazeera, BBC Focus on Africa magazine, IPS News, AFP, CCTV’s Faces of Africa, Jacobin Magazine, Africa is a Country, Project Syndicate, and Ricochet Media. I was a researcher and director with CBC’s Emmy-nominated documentary series Interrupt this Program about art and activism. I also directed Home No More, a film about Islamophobia in Quebec City. I have reported and/or produced films from the DRC, Libya, the West Bank, South Africa, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Mali, and Senegal. I hold a BA in History and Development Studies from McGill University and an MA in Broadcast Journalism from City University in London. I am currently based in Montreal, Canada.
