I am a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University who enjoys directing and editing comedy, drama, and experimental stories. As a writer, I like to make it too complicated or too simple.
My first foray in the industry was with the dramatic short “Karbouj.” Shot partially in Beirut, it explores the impact of family ties (or sad lack thereof) through the simple act of cooking. My company Black ++ (plus plus) Productions grew out of a need to get my own and other women’s stories onto film and into theatres.
My Afro-Cuban heritage spawned a work ethic that saw me through studying at Purdue University in Accounting and Business. This, and a career in banking, honed a financial know-how which has served my Career Coaching clients well in the unfathomable world of start-ups.
In 2003 my husband, the actor Terence Bernie Hines, started a consulting company specializing in the entertainment industry – The Hines Group, Inc. A year later, the company won the Emerging Business of the Year Award from the LA Business Journal.
I am an executive and an artist. I bring a keen eye for finding the small story that hits the broad nerve. But even more importantly, I consider that I have the presence and push to drive a product to the finish line, as I did with my first film “Karbouj,” – being its producer, director, writer, and fundraiser. And have done the same with many more films since.
About MeI am the Producer/Director of Washington DC-based, Peace Films. We are producing a TV series: Inside Scoop Worldwide. Each 45-minute episode will investigate political corruption in various countries and the citizens who are nonviolently fighting back, including:
- inside sources from within the government, exposing secrets not aired on the nightly news
- intimate portrayals of 2-3 citizens who are affected by government corruption—and are speaking truth to power
- analysis from current or veteran US intelligence analysts on US involvement in the events
- cinematographic footage of the beauty—and turmoil of the country

ALEXIS MARIE CHUTE is a free-spirited and award-winning artist, author, photographer, filmmaker, curator and public speaker with a tendency to burst into song. She’s a mama bear to four children, but is more like a big kid herself. Often underestimated for her goofy and whimsical personality—she’s been described as “awkward but charming”—Alexis is a ground-breaking outside-the-box innovator, storyteller, and cultural connector.
Alexis endured devastating loss and escaped a cult-experience, only to rise from the ashes as a resilient badass who embraces her (many) flaws and empowers others to joyfully do the same. Proud escape room junkie and underdog, Alexis writes the script for new ways of thinking and being in the world today.
Alexis has always believed there is more to life than what we can see in our daily grind. Schoolyard bullying forced her to understand who she is and what she stands for from a young age. Since then, she’s been on an almost four decade search for meaning. Her adventures have taken her around the world, into temples and churches, between the covers of hundreds of books, in front of audiences as small as one and as large as four hundred, with experiments in as many creative materials as you can name. She is a wellspring of inspiration and energy.
Alexis Marie Chute invites you to live large on a spirit-level and infuse meaning into every area of your life. She encourages creative and mindful living. Join her on this amazing journey.
